Dear Participants:

The theme of the 14th Asian Food Studies Conference is "Plant-based Diets: Tradition of Asian Food and the Future of the World." Generally speaking, a plant-based diet is a dietary lifestyle that encourages to consume more plant-based foodstuff while reducing animal products and refined processed foods. Over the past decade, research on its health benefits has increased, attracted more attention to the idea and practice of plant-based diets. It brings more reflection, discussion, and implementation in the public. Meanwhile, many traditional plant-based diets from Asia are returning to our table, nourishing people’s stomachs and minds, even to the rest of the world.

Therefore, we are expecting great minds on food studies to share their ideas and experience regarding plant-based diets, to join discussions while to find solutions. We warmly welcome food scholars with interest and contributions to Asian food and foodways. So far, the organizing committee has received applying information from Thailand, China, Japan, The Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States, Canada, and Nepal, there will be thirty and some to deliver their presentation.  We look forward to be educated by our fellow colleagues and friends. This will especially broaden our understanding of food culture in the Asia and strengthen the connections between researchers worldwide, advancing human dietary civilization and the field of food studies.
